Be a Superhero! Run for Sight is the largest annual event for the Delta Gamma Center. Our volunteers are crucial to its success.

It takes over 100 volunteers to make Run for Sight happen each year. Below, please find details of the different volunteer opportunities identified so far. Sign-up for volunteer opportunities and more details will be available on the volunteer sign-up page soon including specific volunteer shifts and the number of volunteers needed.

Pre-Race Preparation & Packet Pick Up

Packet Pick-Up
Distribute bib numbers, chips & t-shirts to walkers, runners, & teams. Requires standing and lifting. Must be 14 years or older.
Friday, May 3 from 2:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Saturday, May 5 from 10:30 am to 3 pm

Race Day - May 6, 2018

Course Volunteers
Course Marshals: 7:00 - 10:30 am (7:00 am check-in) - Assist the rangers in keeping intersections crossing the Run for Sight route closed to traffic. Must be 18 years or older.
Start Line Volunteers: 8:00 - 10:00 am - Direct runners and walkers to start line, assist with food and water after race. Must be 16 years or older.
Race Route Volunteers: 8:00 - 10:00 am - Stationed along 5k course at corners, these volunteers help direct runners and walkers keeping them on course using voice and hand signals.
Race Sweepers, on Bikes: 8:15 - 10:00 am - Follow course and make sure all runners and walkers are on track and have completed the course
Water Station Volunteers: 8:00-10:00 am - Fill water cups, hand water to runners, pick up trash.

Registration & Information Volunteers
Race Day Registration: 7:00 - 11:00 am - Work at the Registration tables to assist with packet pick-up and race day registrations
Volunteer Check-in: 7:00 - 11:00 am - Work at the Volunteer Check-in tent hand out volunteer vests and direct volunteers to their post.
Information & Awards: 7:45 - 11:00 am - Work at the Information & Awards tent helping to answer questions and direct runners and spectators.

Pre & Post Run Volunteers/ Other
Kids Race Volunteers: 9:30 - 11:30 am - Set up around kids route and help ensure safety of the runners.
Race Day Snack Volunteers: 8:00 am - 11:00 am - Set up and restock refreshments. Clean up area after race.
Race Day Set-up Crew: 6:00 am - 9:00 am - Assist with setting up barricades, signs, tables, and chairs to prepare for 1,000+ participants.
Race Day Clean-up Crew: 10:00 am- 2:00 pm (may end earlier) - Assist with packing up all material and cleaning up all areas.
After Bash Volunteer: 9:00 am- 1:00 am - Assist with kids' activities, entertainment, refreshments and other activities and clean up where needed.

Run for Sight Volunteer Code of Conduct
•Conduct yourself as a positive, informative member of our volunteer team.
•Follow all directions from your volunteer coordinator. These directions are in place for the safety of our runners and spectators.
•Refrain from using profane, harassing, or any other language which could be considered offensive while volunteering.
•Refrain from using any and all drugs, alcohol, and tobacco products while volunteering and during our events.
•Respect and treat all event participants with dignity and kindness.

Run for Sight Volunteer Guidelines
•Upon arrival, please check in at your designated volunteer check in location.
•All volunteers must wear their volunteer shirt or vest for the duration of their volunteer shift.
•Please be prepared by dressing comfortably and appropriately for your assignment.
•All volunteers must plan to work for the entirety of their shift. Shift times and locations have been predetermined for safety precautions.
•Please do not bring children or pets to your volunteer shift location. These could be considered distractions from your volunteer responsibilities and otherwise create a safety concern for our participants.
